Borneo Break: Visiting a Gallery

Ah! What a fine hostess Miss Saw was! After taking us for a tour round the reclaimed land of fabulous houses, she had driven Gendil and I to her home where she fed us with some nourishing vegetable juices which she had churned out from a costly Korean-made blender which she has just bought. Then, it was off to dinner and the night market in town but on the way, not only did she gave us an overall view of Sibu, but she stopped by theWorld Fuzhou Heritage Gallery where we were to learn about the famed son of Fuzhou from the Ming Ching District in China, the man who opened up Sibu, Wong Nai Siong. In 1901, Wong Nai Siong had led a batch of other Fuzhou from China to Sibu and had obtained the approval of the then White Rajah, Rajah Charles Brooke to settle in the then sparsely populated and underdeveloped Sarawak. Such contribution, I suppose shouldn't go unnoticed and a gallery of that nature will not be complete without a statue of the founder...
