Orientals in an Oriental Village

The first time I heard of this oriental village in Pulau Langkawi, I had imagined it to be one with a beautiful landscaped Chinese Garden or Japanese Garden but this Oriental Village in Pulau Langkawi is really none of these. It is more a Malaysian village but even then, it is not the typical village that one could identify with. There are no wooden houses on stilts or graceful coconut trees, or anything like that but instead there are concrete buildings interspersed here and there amidst a tropical garden. There are many souvenir shops around where you can either shop for T-shirts or other souvenirs and if you do need to just take a bite to ease your hunger pangs, there should be a little food court there to cater for you and a posh restaurant too, serving Japanese food. I would rather think of this place as a Malaysian version of an oriental village and the only attraction here is perhaps a cable car ride to the peak of a hill where you can have a panoramic bird eye view of the entire island. My companions were keen to visit this village and after hiring a car for RM 50, we had drove straight off to the village, paid RM 15 for a ticket up to the peak and yes, we did enjoy ourselves up there even though there was nothing much to explore. It was pretty misty too that day to enable a view of Pulau Langkawi but t the cool weather was worth it and the company!
