Another visit to Theme Park Hotel at Genting Highlands

This was our second visit to Theme Park Hotel at Genting Highlands after 3 years. You can check out our last visit Here. The purpose of the trip was to capture the Christmas atmosphere at Genting Highlands. We like those lighting decoration very much!
There was a big Christmas Tree beside the main entrance of the hotel which made by recycle water bottle. Nice!

And the lobby also full of LED lighting decoration! The Theme of this year should be 'Recycle!'.

Santa Claus and his Spaceship!

Do you notice the Recycle Mineral Water bottles in this Star?

This Three (3) Bears Band at the Lobby area still 3 bears.
Hopefully they will find more members in year 2011 this year! :)

It was heavy rain while we check-in, but the staff was kind enough to lend out all their umbrellas! Thanks.
We were surprised while we stepped into the room, it was upgraded! New furniture, new setup and new look! Impressed! (You can compare the room 3 years ago from the link below)

One Queen bed

Small sofa...

New Wardrobe

And the bathroom...

Simple shower...

The room looks more clean than ever! And especially the cigarettes smell carpet had totally changed! We were satisfied with the room, especially with the Magnificent night view of Genting! (from the room window)

Taken from the room...

Then, we walked through the hotels surround to catch some fresh cool air and standby for our dinner at Mushroom Farm Restaurant.

Tugu Negara (National Monument) at Kuala Lumpur

Tugu Negara Malaysia(National Monument)
We visited this park after our late breakfast on Day 2 in Kuala Lumpur. This was my second time visit the National Monument. It's actually nice to walk around the area...

It's also a nice place for photography

The entrance of the National Monument

You will pass by the Lotus Pool before the monument. I like the design of the iron Lotus in the water.

Once you pass by the pool, the Tugu Negara Malaysia (National Monument) is in front of us!

"Tugu Negara, literally the "National Monument" in Malay, is a sculpture that commemorates those who died in Malaysia's struggle for freedom, principally against the Japanese occupation during World War II and the Malayan Emergency , which lasted from 1948 until 1960. It is located in the Federal capital, Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian Houses of Parliament is situated near the monument.
The monument depicts a group of
soldiers holding the Malaysian national flag, the Jalur Gemilang, aloft. Each of the bronze figures symbolizes leadership, suffering, unity, vigilance, strength, courage and sacrifice.
Every year on July 31,
Hari Pahlawan (Heroes Day), the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Prime Minister and heads of military and the police would pay their respects to the fallen heroes by laying garlands at the monument." For more info, please click here.

Constructed in 1966, the monument is 15 meters ( 49.21 feet) tall, made of bronze and was designed by Austrian sculptor Felix de Weldon, who was also responsible for the famed USMC War Memorial in Virginia, United States.

In 27 August 1975, the monument suffered extensive damage due to an explosion set off by a communist terrorist. It has since been restored to its original state on 11 May 1977. A fence was then erected and the complex was declared a protected area between sunset and dawn. Every day at dusk, a soldier raises the national flag and lowers it at dawn.

My daughter was happily running around the area and I was busy snapping photos at the surrounding...

The path to walked back to the entrance will pass by this small hall which was full of name on the ceiling.

The names of the Heroes...

we spent about an hour here. Relaxing and refreshing.
Before we leave the park, I noticed this cafe which situated on the small hill. It's named Tuguview Cafe. Looks nice decorated.

Ole Ole Bali Restaurant at Solaris Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

The Ole Ole Bali Restaurant (N03°10.511' E101°39.602') is located at Solaris Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. This restaurant is recommended by Lau. We reached there almost 8pm, and the underground parking was quite convenience.

I like the Balinese cozy environment but it's a bit dark for dining if you sit outdoor. We placed our order immediately because most of us were starving...:)

Cozy environment of the restaurant

I cannot remember what was in the package, but all of us ordered each with different combination. Myself had a Steak and Lamb Chop...

Steak and lamb chop, mash potato, corn and vege.

Other packages as below...

Extra rice we ordered.

I don't know whether all this foods was authentic Balinese food, but I really enjoyed it! It taste differently from others Indonesian restaurant and delicious! The portion they served was more than a person can handle, so...we share among ourself. But I finished my steak & the lamb chop! Haha!

Carlsberg - MYR38.00 per jug

The good dinner have to go together with beer! Haha! We had a jug of Carlsberg cost MYR38.00. Reasonable price.

The Damage was : MYR260.00 for 6 adults and 2 children included drinks. Thanks Lau's for treat us this wonderful dinner! (Every package cost around MYR35.00)

Rated : 4.5/5

I will visit it again if we are happen to be around here!

Yu Ai Seafood Noodle at Segambut, Kuala Lumpur

Once we check-in to the hotel, the first thing came to our mind was looking for our lunch!

I was clueless at that moment, just noticed there was a recommended restaurant from the Malfreemaps...it stated "Yu Ai Seafood Noodle (*)" which is has the '*' sign on it, which is less than 1.5km from the hotel...

Yu Ai Restaurant (N3°11.051' E101°40.561')

The Yu Ai Restaurant is located at Jalan Segambut Utara, same roll with RHB Bank Segambut.
The first impression I had...seems like not many customer around and quite. But after I drove pass behind the shop, realise that most of the customers love to sit under the tree at the parking area at the back of the shop! That's make us decided to try it!

I was shocked when I look at the prices initially...That was MYR15.00 each and MYR18.00 for big size! Wah! But...we still placed our order since we already here...

I took the Curry Laksa, my wife ordered the Tomyam type and my mother in-law had the normal soup...

Tomyam type

Curry Laksa type

The Seafood Noodle was Marvelous!! It was FULL of seafood and Tasty! Really 'justify' for the cost they charge! I wish there will be a branches at Johor Bahru, haha!
We were not regret for what we paid for. Satisfied!

The Damages was about MYR50.00 included drinks for 3 person.

Bestotel (Best Hotel) at Kuala Lumpur.

Bestotel (Best Hotel) (N3°10.668' E101°41.173') is located at Jalan Ipoh (town center) of Kuala Lumpur. We stayed at this hotel in one of our recent trip (Sep 2009) to Kuala Lumpur. It's convenience because it's nearby the PWTC and The Mall Shopping Complex.

The outlook is a bit run down if you compare with others hotel around Kuala Lumpur town area. But that's ok for me. We check in around 2pm and it seems like no proper parking area for vehicles. I just parked in front of the main entrance, and became really convenience for us too!

The Reception of the Hotel

We got a room for One Queen bed & One single bed for MYR103.00 per day. I felt it's cheap & reasonable especially it's located in the town area. The standard room only cost MYR83.00 for a day! The rates I mention above it's inclusive of a simple breakfast too!

The restaurant area where we took our breakfast.

The room was clean and tidy, equipped with one 14' colour TV, air-con, hot & cold shower and electric kettle. I'm satisfied with the service and also the hotel environment, it's value for money if you are looking to few nights simple stay.... They don't have the luxuries like 3 star hotel provided.

The Old shops opposite the hotel

I will recommend this hotel to my friends (with family) who just need a stay around KL town area!

Dengkil R & R (RSA) Area - Selangor

Every time I pass by this Dengkil R & R area (Rest and Service Area) (N2°54.525' E101°36.598') along the North South Expressway, I definitely will have a bite on the Nasi Lemak for the past five years. There was no exception for this time when we were on the way to Penang for the trip of Chinese New Year 2009.

Dengkil Rest and Service Area

Nasi Lemak of Dengkil Rest & Service Area

Disappointed! The taste was totally different and it's not delicious at all! The sambal was not as good as before, the last I had was 2 years ago...hmm...too bad, it's changed! So we decided this will be our Last time for the Nasi Lemak of Dengkil.

Beside that, we had order the Kajang Satay of the stall named 'Haji Samuri'. The satay were tasty but it's still not as good as the Kajang Satay I had before at Kajang. I can still remember the shop named 'Restoran Malaysia' very well. They serve the BEST Satay I ever taste it in Malaysia.

The shop is located at the right end of the Rest Area.

Special Sauce which is mixture of peanuts, sauce and sambal.

The Kajang Satay at Dengkil Rest and Service Area.

Chicken : MYR0.60 per stick.
Mutton : MYR0.90 per stick.
The total price to the Satay above : MYR8.70.

After one hour rest, we continue our journey to Penang...
