Ban Heong Seng Restaurant at Johor Bahru

Ban Heong Seng (万香城) Restaurant (N1 29.018 E103 43.282) is located at Jalan Tahar, Johor Bahru. Which is opposite the Danga Bay and beside the Singgah Selalu Food Court of Johor Bahru.
This restaurant is special with their Beggar Chicken or Duck and you cannot just walk and dine in, you have to pre book the place and your dishes at least 1 days in advance. Because they're operate in the old single storey bunglow house, and they only have about 4-5 tables...

Ban Heong Seng Restaurant

We did our order for the foods for our Saturday dinner. Once all of us there, the dishes continuously served on our table...

The Signature Dish : Beggar Duck (we tried the duck instead of chicken)

Follow by the Deep Fried Boneless Fish...
Actually they made the fish became the fish cake and put it back nicely. So it was boneless!

Forgot the name of the soup above, some kind of melon soup...

 Vegetables

Signature Dish - Bean Curd (Taofu)

It was a Nice dinner! The Beggar Duck was Delicious! The Fish was special and nice! The Melon Soup was just right for the taste, vegetables was average and the Bean Curd was Crunchy & Yummy!
Overall, I like the Herbal taste of the Beggar Duck very much!

Beside that, we were having our dinner peacefully in the restaurant even it was a residential because we were the Only table that moment and others were left...

Some of the dishes were cooked for 8 hours and that's one of the reason we need to order in advance.

The Damage : MYR140.00 for 5 adults and 2 children included drinks. Reasonable isn't it?!

Rated : 4.7/5
We will be back again!

Strongly recommended if you want to taste the Beggar Chicken or Duck.

All foods presented nicely!
The Mushroom Soup was Yummy! My daughter finished it without our notice! :)
The Herb Roasted Chicken was ok, it can be better if the Chef make it more moist...
The Striploin was grilled perfectly! Which was cooked exactly what I like! The sauce was flavorful but the steak was not enough marinated.

I had a chat with the Chef - Ben who was a nice and friendly guy, and he explained about the foods of the restaurant to us patiently! We were appreciated.

The Roasted Chicken was too dry...

The pick-up time will be on 9.30pm sharp at the Main Entrance of Genting Hotel.

The J & J Corner Portuguese Seafood Restaurant (N2 10.986 E102 15.990) is located in the Portuguese Settlement of Malacca. This was our second visit to the restaurant. The reason was because of the Portuguese Baked Fish!

Anyway, the cafe also A Museum to us. Full of antiques, and histories...

Mixed with the antique table and today computer...

Malacca was conquered by Portuguese - Afonso de Albuquerque with 1200 men and eighteen ships in the year 1511, maybe this is the reason the owner use 1511 for his cafe! :)

This was a Totally different dining experience for us! Awesome! Having our tea break in the Museum! Great! Even we were quite hungry that time, but we don't wanna filled up our stomach yet...because we planned our dinner at the Portuguese Seafood Village at Portuguese Settlement.

Our purpose here is to taste some of the Nyonya foods here so I ordered a plate of Nyonya Popiah, Pai Tee and the Nyonya Laksa.
