Sulawesi Surprise!: Long Journeys

I remember when in Egypt, we travelled a long distance in a van at night. It was a clear night and I looked up at the sky for stars. Prior to visiting Egypt, someone had told me that you'd expect lots of stars in an Egyption sky. That someone had read about that in some travellogue. That night though, there was unfortunately no stars and traveling through a large piece of barren land, one could still be awed. The world seemed so big and a tiny speck of a man could only sink deep into its emptiness. Sometimes, when you are traveling long journeys, you'd get tired and miss home. While traveling back to Makassar from Tana Toraja, that same feeling arose when dusk started to fall. We had been traveling since morn and on top of all that, a road accident somewhere had resulted in a long jam and delayed our journey. Traveling is not always a bed of roses!
