Sulawesi Surprise!: Brief Stop at Makale

Traveling to Tana Toraja from Makassar or vice versa, one could not help but doze off during some part of the journey. The journey is a solid 300-km, 8-10 hour drive if you are talking about going to Rantepao by bus. On the way, you'd get to pass the capital of Tana Toraja Regency - Makale, which has about 30 thousand inhabitants. Don't doze off here. You may want to take a photo of the giant statue of a warrior and maybe take a shot too at the quaint little church nearby. In my case, I did not just take a shot of the statue and the church. I also went to the church to take a peek and a pee! It had been a long journey...
