Java Jamboree: It's YogYag!

Sometimes, in life, we seemed to go through the same experience twice. I remember the first time when I was in Agra to visit the Taj Mahal- my travelling companions and I reached the city in the evening. We hired a cab and chugged through a maze of unfamiliar dark narrow roads lined with dimly-lit houses and I had this strange feeling that came from traveling in an unfamiliar environment. In Yogyakarta, Indonesia, the scene and feelings seemed to repeat itself. The only difference was, in Agra, we had already booked our hotel and we had a place to focus on while in Yogyakarta, we had to hunt for a place to sleep. Traveling on your own without a proper guide could therefore scare the wits out of some people but in Yogyakarta, there shouldn't be much problem in getting a room to put up a night. Afterall, Yogyakarta is one famous tourist destination. Besides being one of the foremost cultural centers of Java where you get to see the Ramayana Ballet and wayang kulit, Yogyakarta is home to the famed Borobudur which is Indonesia's single most visited tourist attraction. Besides, there is the great Sultan's Palace, Parangtritis Beach, Prambanan Temples and Merapi Volcano to contend with. Cheap hotels are plentiful especially along Soros Vijaya Area...
